Florida Gulf & Atlantic Railroad Welcomes New Customer

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, FLORIDA, January 18, 2021 – Tallahassee, FL based Florida Gulf & Atlantic Railroad (FGA) welcomes the newest customer to the family. Strategic Transload Services of Florida Panhandle, LLC (STS) began operations in DeFuniak Springs, FL in early January 2021. STS’s new facility is an ethanol transload; they receive railcars loaded with ethanol and transfer the product to trucks for final delivery at motor fuel blending terminals in the Florida panhandle. The site, a former Wayne Farms feed mill, has been dormant for over three years. STS’s investment and development of the site is expected to generate ancillary business in addition to their core ethanol transloading business.

“From the initial conversation through the final construction and facility opening, the FGA team listened to our needs, found options, expedited approvals and developed a service plan to quickly and safely bring the project from conception to completion.”

The new STS facility is an example of FGA’s commitment to finding creative logistics solutions and strengthening the rail service helping local businesses and people of the communities along the rail line.
